5 Foods that Fight Inflammation

Scientist now know that inflammation appears to play a role in many chronic diseases such as various auto-immune problems like rheumatoid arthritis, asthma and the inflammatory bowel diseases ulcerative colitis and Crohn’s disease.   1. Omega 3 foods: Foods rich in omega-3s like certain fish, black cod has even more omega-3 fatty acids than does salmon, along with flax seeds, hemp seeds and chia seeds, sea vegetables and walnuts.
  2. Berries: all berries have anti-inflammatory effects and are just really good for you for a variety of reasons. Tart cherries and blueberries tend to be the most popular but you should eat a variety. Some lesser known berries are black raspberries and sea buckthorn berries.
  3. Spices: Many spices are nutrient dense along with antioxidants and plenty are well known for anti-inflammatory action. Turmeric is one of the best known but other spices that are very good are cloves, rosemary and ginger.
  4. Vegetables: Cruciferous plants are some of the better known that contain anti-inflammatory properties. Bok Choy, broccoli, cabbage, kale and cauliflower all belong to the cruciferous family. Beets, celery and dark leafy greens are all excellent choices also.
  5. Teas and herbs: Green tea is the most famous and popular but other teas or herbs include nettle leaf, willow bark, regular black tea and rose hips.

Consuming a variety of anti-inflammatory foods everyday is a really good way to help your body feel better and to possibly even avoid having to take medication later in life or for a chronic inflammation illness.
